I worked on two 48 channel Duality consoles, #41 and #42. Both consoles were lemons! Broke down all the time! One day a couple channel strips had to be taken out and get some repairs, some days the computer lost sight of itself and automation was a no go. The recall assist is finicky not as reliable as you might think. Think of it like tuning a guitar with its intonation off, the action is all over the place, and has been strung with the wrong set of strings. You'll never get it back in tune perfectly, you'll always be more or less around the margins, and it won't last in tune that long either! It behaves like a tuner so, once I got it to turn the lights off, I would wobble the knob a bit, and i could get it to turn off the lights and stay "in tune" in small varying degrees around the first spot where I nailed the recall assist saved value. So it can be either "in tune" or slightly "flat" or "sharp". Just my 2 cents. I much preferred the 4000's. They broke down just as much as the dualities that replaced them (we had 1 E and 1 G series) and they had been around for way longer. We weren't 3 quarters of the way through year 1 when the dualities started having problems. Luckily we had a good team of techs on site that kept those things running but it was a pain in the ass. Also, Can't do TOTAL recall if two channel strips are missing that day!

Wow, what an exciting time to be an analog gear enthusiast! I'll be checking out the Z&H stuff for sure. I've used an original Sontec MEP-250ex several times and it's one of the most beautiful sounding EQ's I've ever used. It's like a fully parametric Neve 1084! haha Amazing stuff

Z&H are NOT a UK based company!🤦‍♂️ I believe Chinese. It’s weird they decided to register in the UK and also have UK based presenters for their Demos. It almost feels like they’re hiding the fact and I don’t know why. Mind you they might have great stuff! It’s made in China, be proud of it! 🤷‍♂️

Curious are you still using the Quantum 4848? I am considering purchasing one to add IO to my Quantum 26/32.

Z&H is an absentee business in the UK.. they have just registered their company in the UK to portray themselves as UK based and leverage that heritage, imo that's disingenuous .. their company address is a mail forwarding / LTD business registration shop called Ghost Mail. They are manufacturing existing designs (which they say the've overhauled, ok) and basically copied the look and frequency points of the CAG HDE250 for their EQ. Fair enough they want to get in the game but on so many fronts they are pushing the limits of business ethics.
